The UBC Division welcomes Dr.Janarthanan (Janar) Sathananthan (BHB, MBChB, MPH, FRACP) as a new academic interventional Cardiologist. Dr. Sathananthan graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Auckland (Distinction) and completed cardiology training through the Greenlane Cardiology Program in Auckland, New Zealand and is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He underwent further fellowship training in interventional cardiology at Auckland City Hospital, Toronto General Hospital and at the Centre for Heart Valve Innovation (Vancouver, Canada). His clinical interests include coronary interventions, chronic total occlusions and structural heart disease. He has also completed a Masters of Public Health. His research interests focus on structural heart disease, clinical trials and bench testing of cardiovascular devices.
