As we begin a new academic year, the UBC Division of Adult Cardiology is delighted to welcome nine new PGY4 residents to our Postgraduate Cardiology Training Program.
We are equally proud to continue the training of 29 clinical fellows, including physicians beginning their first year of Area of Focused Competence (AFC) or non-AFC clinical fellowship training, as well as fellows completing their final year of advanced training.
The strength and size of our postgraduate training community reflect the Division’s longstanding commitment to excellence in medical education, mentorship, clinical training, and professional development.
Our trainees have the opportunity to learn alongside faculty who are recognized leaders in cardiology, medical education, research, and specialized areas of cardiovascular care. Through teaching, mentorship, clinical experience, scholarship, and collaboration, our faculty are committed to developing the knowledge, skills, judgment, and leadership that trainees will carry throughout their careers.
We are proud that our Division continues to be sought out as a place to learn, train, and pursue advanced cardiology education. Most importantly, we recognize the trust that comes with that distinction. Every resident and fellow who joins our program entrusts us with an important part of their professional journey, and we are honoured to support them as they develop into the clinicians, educators, researchers, and leaders who will help shape the future of cardiovascular medicine.
To our new and returning trainees, welcome to the new academic year. Thank you for choosing UBC Adult Cardiology and for entrusting us with your education and training. We look forward to supporting your growth, celebrating your achievements, and learning alongside you throughout the year.
And to our dedicated faculty, thank you for the countless hours you devote to teaching, supervision, mentorship, and the advancement of medical education. Your expertise, leadership, and commitment to our learners are at the heart of the strength of our training programs.
Together, we begin another exciting academic year with our new PGY4 residents, clinical fellows, and a shared commitment to educating and mentoring the next generation of leaders in cardiology.
