Community Cardiac Education Series — Join UBC Cardiology on May 30, 2026!

The UBC Division of Cardiology is excited to host the Community Cardiac Education Series, a free public event designed to support patients, families, and community members in understanding and managing heart health. This initiative brings together cardiologists, dietitians, exercise specialists, and patient with live experiences to deliver practical, evidence‑based education in a welcoming, accessible environment.

Date: Saturday, May 30, 2026
Time: 11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Location: UBC Robson Square, 800 Hornby Street, Vancouver

The event features two presentation blocks along with a Heart Fair at lunch, including interactive booths, blood pressure checks, wellness activities, and opportunities to speak directly with trainees and dietitians.

Attendees will learn about:

  • Understanding coronary artery disease and what actually happens during a heart attack
  • Heart‑healthy eating and realistic nutrition strategies for everyday life
  • Medications after a heart attack—what they do, why they matter, and how to manage them confidently
  • Safe and effective exercise during recovery, including how to reduce fear and build confidence in movement
  • The important role of vaccines in preventing cardiovascular events and protecting overall heart health
  • Foundational lifestyle practices such as nutrition, activity, stress management, and sleep, all key to long‑term heart health

This event is offered in partnership with the Heart & Stroke Foundation and the HeartLife Foundation.

Limited in‑person seating is available, and a virtual link will be provided closer to the event date.
