The UBC Division of Cardiology is proud to highlight the strong participation of our faculty at the upcoming 2026 Canadian Society of Echocardiography (CSE) Echo Weekend in Vancouver. This year’s meeting provides a wonderful platform to showcase the exceptional research, clinical expertise, and educational leadership of our echocardiography faculty, many of whom are contributing as speakers, moderators, and abstract presenters. We warmly invite all division members to attend and engage in this landmark event, and we especially encourage our fellows to take advantage of this invaluable opportunity for learning, networking, and professional growth.

This upcoming meeting marks a very special milestone: for the first time in the past 28 years, CSE Echo Weekend will be held in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. We are bringing this flagship meeting to the West Coast for the very first time! We have assembled a truly star-studded and content-rich program, bringing together many distinguished echocardiographers, sonographers, imagers, clinicians, scientists, and colleagues from across Canada and around the world, and showcasing cutting-edge science, technology, and advances in cardiac imaging in 2026.

This dynamic three-day experience is designed for interactive learning, multidisciplinary dialogue, and clinical impact, and will include (only partial listing):

  • Featured symposia and plenary sessions covering advanced echocardiography topics, including diastolic function (and the new guidelines), right heart assessment and pulmonary hypertension (and the new guidelines), cardiomyopathies, artificial intelligence, congenital heart disease, stress echo, sonographer forum, etc.
  • Joint sessions with our CT and MRI colleagues, exploring cutting-edge multimodality approaches to patient-centered care
  • Interactive learning labs and workshops, from strain and myocardial work, 3D echo imaging, contrast echo, and POCUS essentials
  • Poster presentations and moderated scientific abstract sessions with judging and awards
  • Signature social events, including the Welcome Dinner, President’s Reception, and networking opportunities that bring the community together
  • Special fun activities, such as a Stanley Park fun run, to kick off the weekend for those who arrive early

One highlight we are especially excited about is a live interventional valve case, showcasing how echocardiography and interventional cardiology are seamlessly and tightly coupled to deliver cutting-edge patient-centered care every day.

We are also delighted to announce a first in CSE history: accepted abstracts will be published in the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography (JASE), providing a unique opportunity for our trainees and investigators to showcase their work on a global stage. We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Patricia Pellikka, Editor-in-Chief of JASE, for this important partnership, and we are delighted that she will be joining us in Vancouver!

Please join us for a weekend that brings together exceptional cardiac imaging, science, and technology all within a setting that is as inspiring as it is memorable. Please feel free to share this email with your colleagues.
