SportsCardiology BC

Since inception in 2012, SportsCardiology BC (SCBC) has made continued progress in its foundational four pillars of: Research, Education, Advocacy and Clinical Assessment. The goal of our research is to investigate and ultimately prevent the incidence of sudden cardiac death amongst athletes. SCBC is conducting large-scale screening projects in young athletes (<35yrs) and Masters athletes (>35yrs). Our educational mission is to impart evidence-based knowledge on risk factors, signs and symptoms and management of cardiovascular disease in this population. A two-part special sports cardiology themed issue will soon be published in the BCMJ. Advocacy efforts within provincial, national and sporting organizations are ongoing.

SCBC is on the web at www.sportscardiologybc.org ; our Facebook page is at ‘Sports Cardiology BC‘ or you can follow us on Twitter at ‘@sportscardiobc
